Red Ribbon Week was a big success
The Conejo Valley Red Ribbon Week sponsored by
the Conejo Valley Substance Prevention Authority was a tremendous success because of the
overwhelming support from the entire community.
Accolades go to the Thousand Oaks Elks Lodge;
Ralph Ramsey from Long's Drugs of Thousand Oaks; Lloyd's Plumbing; Burt's Pharmacy of
Newbury Park; Lance Winslow from the Car Wash Guys; the Janss Mall; Lisa
Peters, our wonderful clown; Bargain Balloons; Pamela Spencer from Kaiser Permanente;
Conejo Recreation and Park District; Conejo Bowl; Chris Ludlow from Sound Extravagance;
Thousand Oaks Teen Center Dance Squad; SSG. Paul Masson and SSG. Charles Staley from
the U.S. Army; Glenda Barnard from Congressman Anthony Beilenson's office; John Gorham for
his artistic talent in designing our T-Shirts; and to all of the local merchants who
generously donated prizes for our drawing.
A special thank you to the fabulous group from
the Retired Senior Volunteer Program. These wonderful people, under the leadership
of Louise Danielle, processed more than 75,000 red ribbons. It was very exciting to
see the seniors of The Conejo helping the youth of today.
Kudos go to Terry Greenberg and his staff at The
News Chronicle for their excellent coverage and support of the events during Red Ribbon
Week.
